First, you’ll get a picture of a Cadbury chocolate selection in a WhatsApp message. It has a link to a suspicious website with a URL. This message is fake.
The message has your name and address, which makes it seem more trustworthy. Scammers may have gotten these details from you if you entered them on a website that wasn’t secure or had a data breach.
If you click on the link in the message, you will be taken to a survey website where you will be asked questions as part of a “quiz” before “finding the golden ticket.”
The website uses branding that looks convincing and says, “Hello, welcome to Cadbury’s Special Christmas Giveaway! Answer this short quiz correctly, find the golden ticket, and you could win an exclusive Christmas Chocolate Magic Basket. 235 gifts left.’ If you see this message then it will be the Cadbury Christmas giveaway scam.
After you answer four questions, you’ll have three chances to pick a prize box with a winning ticket inside. You succeed on the third try.
