The Royal mail international cyber attack occurred on Wednesday. Very little information has been released by the Royal Mail about the attack and currently not much can be concluded.
On Friday morning, the Times newspaper reported that Russia-linked hackers behind Royal Mail cyber attack after revealing screen shots of the effected computers with a Lock bit cyber attack.
A LockBit cyber attack can encrypt and remove all files from a device it infects. This lets the attacker hold the victim’s data hostage until the ransom is paid. This ransomware is causing a lot of worry for many businesses.

It’s important to use strong passwords. Multi-factor authentication should be turned on. Review and simplify the permissions for user accounts. Clean out user accounts that are no longer being used. Make sure that all security procedures are followed when setting up the system. Always have backups of the whole system and clean images of the local machine ready. Make sure that you have a complete cyber security solution for your business in place.
