All about the World Cup in 2022

This World Cup is the first to not be held in May, June, or July and to take place in the northern winter because of the extreme summer heat in Qatar. It is being performed over a 29 days and is taking place in November and December. On Sunday, November 20, at the Al Bayt Stadium, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar gets under way as the hosts take on Ecuador in Group A. The tournament’s matches will take place in eight locations spread across five cities. This year’s competition has 32 participating teams. At Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, the opening match will be between Qatar and Ecuador. The final will take place on December 18, 2022, which is National Day in Qatar. With their Group B encounter against Iran set for Monday, November 21, at 1pm UK time, England will compete on the second day. The Premier League shuts down eight days before the game. Wales’ opening match will likewise take place on Monday, November 21.

Where can watch the World Cup on TV ?

All games will be shown live on free-to-air TV channels. Split between the broadcasters BBC and ITV.

The first test for England will be their meeting against Iran on Monday shown live by BBC. The match for Wales against USA also on Monday will be shown on ITV.

Friday will then see England and Wales back in action, England vs USA will be on ITV and Wales against Iran will be on the BBC.

The BBC will show the match on 29th November when England play against Wales.

The World Cup matches are being broadcast in several locations, including JJ’s,Cargo, and Genting, at the Skydome on Croft Rd, Coventry. The majority of the afternoon and evening matches will be broadcast on the large screen in the E-Lounge of the recently established Players Entertainment on Silver Street.
