Statement about recycling bin collections from Coventry Council.
We regret the continued interruption to a small percentage of our collection service, which has mostly impacted blue-lidded recycling bin rounds.
This is due to some of our employees failing to complete their rounds.
Despite the fact that trade unions have not filed a formal grievance with the City Council, discussions have taken place over the previous two weeks to try to remedy this intolerable situation. Despite the fact that a deal has been struck, a tiny number of personnel are continuing their operations. This is currently being handled through the proper Council staff channels.
From Tuesday next week, an additional two workers will be deployed on recycling rounds, which is a week earlier than anticipated. In addition, on non-collection days such as Saturday and Monday, we will continue to deploy additional resources in an attempt to catch up with overdue collections. Residents are thus encouraged to leave their trash out if they have not yet been emptied.
We apologise for any inconvenience given to residents as a result of this situation, which is beyond our control. We are committed to providing the residents of this community with the service they deserve, and we are doing all we can to fix this issue as quickly as possible.
Finally, we would like to thank the vast majority of our crews that continue to work as normal.
