“Classic FM’s Pet Classics” has grown to be one of the station’s most beloved yearly programmes since its launch in 2018. Throughout Classic FM’s social media channels, the show received an incredible 4.4 million video views in 2022. On TikTok, video views increased by an astounding 3000%. In addition, listeners sent Classic FM an abundance of endearing photos of their beloved pets and other animals, all contentedly consuming the show. The animals included dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, horses, tortoises, hedgehogs, goldfish, and even a spider!
“Classic FM’s Pet Classics” will return to the airwaves for its sixth season. Charlotte Hawkins, the station’s weekend presenter and a passionate dog lover, will host this endearing programme. Watch the show live on Saturday, November 4th at 5 p.m., and again on Sunday, November 5th at 5 p.m.; it’s scheduled just in time for Bonfire Night, when fireworks are in full swing. Classic FM has once again worked with the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to create this programme.
Every episode will include a carefully curated selection of the most calming classical compositions, chosen to help calm anxious pets and their owners. The playlist also includes classical works with an animal theme, such as Camille Saint-Sans’ “Animal” and Edward Elgar’s “Mina,” which were both inspired by the composer’s beloved Cairn Terrier.
For pets, “Classic FM’s Pet Classics” provides a calm sanctuary during what is frequently an incredibly stressful and upsetting time. An astonishing 76% of respondents to an RSPCA impact survey from 2022 stated that fireworks caused distress for their dogs. Remarkably, the RSPCA has previously stressed the value of calming music as the most popular method used by pet owners to get their animals ready for Bonfire Night and calm them down.
In the run-up to Bonfire Night, Classic FM will provide listeners with important advice and tips from the RSPCA to help them get their pets ready for the weekend. Butcher’s Nourishing Food for Dogs, the program’s new sponsor, will also offer more guidance throughout the broadcasts. Comprehensive information is available at ClassicFM.com.
Apart from “Pet Classics,” Classic FM has put together a playlist of peaceful classical music selections specifically designed for the country’s animal companions. Global Player, the platform for global entertainment, offers this playlist for free at any time.
