As a result of NHS Test and Trace telling bin personnel to self-isolate, garden waste collections in Coventry will be halted for another week.
The rise is attributed to employees’ outside-of-work interactions with a positive case, and there is no COVID-19 outbreak in the service.
All household and recycling rounds — green and blue-lidded bins – will be completed in full as usual as a result of the change. Faced with a similar situation, councils around the country are making similar judgments.
“We have chosen to defer yard trash collection for another week,” said Andrew Walster, Director, Streetscene and Regulatory Services at Coventry City Council. We understand that this may be disappointing, but we hope that people will bear with us while we try to shuffle personnel to ensure that recycling and domestic bins are collected.
“We’ll keep track of how many of our crews are required to self-isolate on a daily basis. Because of the unusual circumstances, I’d want to express my gratitude to the citizens for their patience.”
If people need to dispose of surplus garden debris this week or next week, there is still plenty of space at the London Road tip.
