As part of its summer wellness programme, FarGo Village will host activities that make people feel good.
At Coventry’s Creative Quarter, you can look forward to creative arts, workshops, and the return of a festival all about dogs.
FarGo Village has put health and well-being at the top of its summer events list, with a wide range of activities designed to get people moving and creative while the kids are on vacation.
August at FarGo Village is all about health and wellness, so the creative space has started FarGo in Motion, a celebration of active lifestyles with fitness classes, drop-in yoga, karate, and skate sessions, and the chance to play table tennis and table football against your friends.
The free event, which will take place on Saturday, August 13 from 12pm to 6pm and is supported by Coventry City Council, is for the whole family and has soft play for kids.
On Saturday, August 27, FarGo Dog Fest will be back for the best day out with your favourite pet. Enter your dog in one of the many competitions going on all day, eat and drink well (both you and your dog will love it), or just hang out with other dog lovers.
The free event will run from 10.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include a Family Dog Show in the Box hosted by Broken Souls Rescue with prizes for the dogs with the waggliest tails, an agility course, dog paw art, a tombola, treats, a dog bakery, a doggy book stall, a doggy paddling pool, and much more.
FarGo Village has also started a weekly Walk & Talk every Wednesday at noon to help creative people in Coventry share ideas and get to know the FarGo team.
During wellbeing month, the networking walk takes people from FarGo Village to Charterhouse Park and back. This gives them a chance to talk about workshops, events, and ideas in a casual setting.
Monta Norkuse from FarGo Village said, “We’ve put a lot of thought into this summer’s events programme as a way to have fun with family and friends and encourage people to get active and get in touch with their creative side during the summer holidays.”
“Many of these events, like our main event FarGo in Motion, are free and are a great deal for young families looking for something to do over the holidays and for friends who want to catch up and have fun.
“We’re thrilled that many of our residents are joining us in putting on a wide range of wellness activities. We’re also excited to launch our Walk & Talk programme to share the FarGo buzz, enthusiasm, and expertise with others who want to get into the creative industries, and we hope that a lot of people come to join us.”
As part of Wellbeing Month, a number of FarGo residents are also putting on their own events. Wear Milo’s and Crazy Rah Art are putting on seven themed craft workshops for FarGo’s Summer Craft Club.
The workshops are for kids over the age of three. They have themes like Space, Pirates, Dinosaurs, and Wild Animals, and the kids get to take home what they make at the end of the day. On Thursdays, sessions take place at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m.
Sustainable shop for old clothes On Tuesday, August 16 and August 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., kids ages 13 to 16 can go to Project Number 5 to learn how to skateboard.
The sessions are free for people who are part of the Coventry Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. They are good for people who have never skated before or who want to improve their skills.
Arts a Riot is a partnership between Common Ground, Let’s Animate, and Art Riot Collective. It gives young people with special needs a chance to do art, animation, and sensory movement in a way that hasn’t been done before.
Sessions are held at FarGo Village every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are free for HAF-eligible children.
